European Parliament Elections 2009 / Austria - Pre-Election-Study

In the summer term 2009 students of the University of Vienna designed a questionnaire to perform a pre-election study concerning the European Parliament Elections 2009 in Austria. Thanks to the financial support of the Federal Ministry of Science and Research, the Renner Institut, the Politische Akademie and the City of Vienna, the survey could be conducted amongst 800 Austrian citizens in May 2009 by a professional market and opinion research institute (IPR).

European Parliament Elections 2009 - Media Analysis

Accompanying the above study, five Austrian daily Newspapers (Die Presse, der Standard, Kronenzeitung, Salzburger Nachrichten and die Kleine Zeitung) and two TV newscasts (ZIB I and ATV aktuell) were coded for the period from 13^th of May to 6^th of June 2009 (European Parliament Elections: 7^th of June). The generated dataset features data on the evaluation of the European Union and the candidates in the election by the media, data on the framing of topics as well as information on polls and the EU in general provided by the coded media formats.
